CI AGM 2024 Management Committee Officer nominations

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee Eilidh Murray 65183 Coordinator
Proposed by Richenda Walford 61938
Seconded by John Hartley 63875

Eilidh’s statement:

I’d like to stand for the role of Coordinator in Cycle Islington as I believe that over the past few years, I have been able actively to support the group in campaigning, social media, council meetings, rides and coordination with LCC staff.  Having been heavily involved in the launch of the LCC Women’s Network, I am keen to promote the campaign at a local level, linking our activities with other cycling groups, notably Joy Riders and Cycle Sisters.  Being an LCC trustee, and currently chair of trustees, gives me additional insight which helps keep Cycle Islington firmly on London’s cycling map.

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee Amir Shamsuddin 131434 Treasurer
Proposed by Eilidh Murray 65183
Seconded by John Hartley 63875

Amir’s statement:

As Treasurer, I can bring my experience doing accounting for two of my own startups as well as in previous treasurer roles (long ago!) for university societies.

I am always happy to volunteer for campaigns in any required capacity, and e.g. I helped draft the press release for the most recent Old Street “Make the Lane” campaign.

I am keen to help make cycling in London safe and accessible for my two young children and believe in a vision for London which would allow everyone, regardless of age, to be able to choose this healthy, community-building, climate-friendly mode of transport.

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee John Hartley 63875 Secretary
Proposed by Sue Marris 84733
Seconded by Tom Bogdanowicz 64173

John’s statement:

Having been Secretary for the past year, I apply for re-election in this post. I believe that my organisation skills have shown me capable of performing as Secretary, professionally and efficiently. Specifically

  • Managing the minutes – any efficient organisation must have minutes produced in a timely fashion, with actions clearly identified.
  • Organising regular members’ meetings, AGMs, etc. and keeping an eye on the Constitution to ensure it is relevant to CI’s activities!

If selected, I will bring dedication and skill to the task to ensure that CI has the best chance of even greater campaigning successes.

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee Steve Knattress 61145 Committee member
Proposed by Eilidh Murray 65183
Seconded by David Lincoln 66792

Steve’s statement

Application for Committee Member

I have been a member of Cycle Islington for many years and am an active committee member.

I have completed the LCC ride leader’s course, and I think my knowledge gained of routes and the postcode lottery of infrastructure, enables me to organise safe and interesting group rides.

I have used my skill as an editor, to shoot and edit videos to amplify our campaigns.

I hope to continue to give my experience and time to Cycle Islington to help enable more people to choose to cycle safely on our streets.

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee Johanna Gewolker 19618 Committee member
Proposed by Eilidh Murray 65183
Seconded by John Hartley 63875

Johanna’s Statement:

As a transport planner by profession I have technical knowledge and skills which I would be able to contribute to Cycle Islington over the coming year. This could include drafting consultation responses and conducting analysis / mapping. As previously noted, due to working for Camden my involvement has to be limited to projects that do not overlap with the borough boundaries. Something I would like to work more on over the coming year is events and working with partners to increase our reach. One idea includes organising an additional bikers’ breakfast or similar, joint with Haringey and possibly Hackney in Finsbury Park.

Name LCC member no. Position applied for
Nominee Nick Kocharhook 74330 Committee member
Proposed by John Hartley 63875
Seconded by Richenda Walford 61938

Nick’s statement:

I’d like to stand for the CI committee again this year. I have a decade of experience with CI, including many years spent advocating for safer, greener streets with the council. I have a background in IT and a passion for transportation design.
